The terms that govern use of the SigningLedger website and business management platform for independent notaries and loan signing agents.

Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using SigningLedger, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Description of Service
SigningLedger provides business management, accounting, receivables tracking, payables tracking, reporting, and tax preparation tools for independent notaries and loan signing agents. The service includes bookkeeping, invoicing, mileage tracking, expense tracking, vendor management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, profitability reporting, financial reporting, CPA package generation, and tax estimation features.
Not a Notarial Journal
SigningLedger is a business management platform for notaries and loan signing agents. It is not intended to replace state-required notarial journals or official notary recordkeeping requirements. Users must maintain a separate compliant notarial journal as required by their state's laws. SigningLedger's notarial act tracking is for tax and business reporting purposes only and does not satisfy statutory journal requirements.
Not Tax Advice
Reports, tax estimates, Schedule C breakdowns, 1099 summaries, CPA packages, and self-employment tax calculations are informational tools and do not constitute tax, legal, or accounting advice. SigningLedger does not file tax returns or 1099 forms with the IRS or state agencies. You are responsible for reviewing all filings with a qualified CPA or tax professional and for the accuracy of the records you enter.
Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for: • The accuracy and completeness of the records you enter. • Maintaining your own data backups and exports — SigningLedger is not your sole recordkeeping system. • Filing your own tax returns and 1099 forms as required by law. • Maintaining a compliant notarial journal as required by your state. • Protecting your account credentials. • Complying with all applicable laws and regulations in your jurisdiction. • Ensuring you have the right to enter borrower and customer information into the platform. • Retaining your business records for the period required by the IRS and applicable state agencies (generally 3 to 7 years).
Account Registration
You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your password. You must be at least 18 years old to use the service.
Billing and Subscriptions
Every plan begins with a 7-day free trial. Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Stripe and can be upgraded, downgraded, or cancelled at any time from the in-app billing portal. Refunds are handled at our discretion. See our pricing page for current rates.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to: • Use the service for any illegal purpose. • Enter information you do not have the right to enter. • Attempt to access other users' data. • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application. • Use the service in a way that could damage, disable, or overload our infrastructure. • Share your account credentials with others.
Intellectual Property
SigningLedger and its software, design, and content are owned by SigningLedger and protected by intellectual property laws. Your data remains your property. We claim no ownership over the business records you enter.
Limitation of Liability
SigningLedger is provided 'as is' and 'as available.' To the maximum extent permitted by law, SigningLedger shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business interruption, arising from the use of or inability to use the service. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Service Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service availability. We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service interruptions. You are responsible for maintaining your own data backups through regular exports. We recommend exporting your data monthly.
Termination
You may cancel your account at any time from Settings. Account cancellation triggers a 1-year grace period with read-only access, during which you can export your data or reactivate. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms. See our Account Deletion Policy for details.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will meet your requirements or be error-free.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the application or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
